It's Thursday again, and another set of releases are here! Some of our favorite MV Battlers have escaped the battle system and can now walk around in game! And Joel Steudler is here to deliver another set of surreal otherworldly battlebacks. Let's take a look!
The default MV graphics are very pretty already and it is no wonder a lot of people are still using them in both MV and MZ games. But sometimes, users would run into a problem: Some of the enemies did not come with matching sprites, making it difficult to use them outside of random encounters.
The MV Enemies - Character Sprites pack is here and ready to help you out! With 22 regular sized sprites, down poses for all of them and four Big Monsters on top of that, there is not much left to ask for!
Instead of just jumping right into battle, you can now meet the scary dark chimera on the map. But watch out, it might be surrounded by many other supporting monsters that are ready to face you as well. Perhaps that chimera is allies with the snake, spider, hornet, scorpion or rats, or all of them! But what if the boss is the giant lamia? Here you could have the four elemental fairies or the angel as sidekicks. It's really up to you how you use the myriad of options this pack provides.
Or maybe these aren't even enemies at all! You could also use them as decorative elements on the maps or as parts of exciting puzzles or quests.
And the enemies we've mentioned here are just a few of the things you can find in this pack of well-crafted sprites! Many great adventures lie ahead and with these sprites the adventures can become even greater!
Your characters have just left the realms they know and now they are about to see some really strange things. Follow their journey through fights on a plane of existence that is twisted and beautiful at the same time - welcome to the Aethereal Planes! With 16 backgrounds and twelve floors, you can create a ton of combinations and all of them will be beautiful. Enjoy the surreal look of the colorful galaxies, with mesmerizing shapes and patterns that are above, below and all around your party.
A big plus is that all the graphics in this pack come in different sizes - they are ready to be used in VX/Ace as well as MV and MZ, but the backgrounds also come in larger resolutions. If you want to zoom in or just have a different part of it in the center, you can do that! They also provide a much more vertical space than a standard background, being a square rather than a rectangle. These high resolution square versions are very flexible - title screen, chapter cover, menu graphics - you can find almost endless additional uses for them!
And if you are looking for the perfect music to go with them, Joel Steudler also added a beautiful bonus track plus a remix of it to have you ready and in the perfect mood for this exciting trip to the Aethereal planes!
Whenever I start a new project, my first thought when seeing the world map tiles is “Nah, I won’t need that here”... if I want a world map, I’d probably parallax it to have it really fit the world I have in mind. But on the other hand, it’s a shame to just neglect these neat tiles, even if you don’t plan on having an actual world map. So let’s have a look at 6 ways to (mis)use these tiles!
